Two students riding triple seat on bike killed in collission with another twowheeler

PUNE: Two students, including an MPSC aspirant, riding triple seat on a motorcycle without wearing helmets were killed and their friend suffered injuries in the early hours of Friday when their two-wheeler crashed into the rear of another bike on Pune-Satara Road.Uday Gangadhar Patil (23) of Dhule district , died on the spot of head injuries. Uday and Rohit’s friend, Rahul Lotan Kankhar (23), of Hinglajnagar in Nandurbar district is undergoing treatment in a hospital.“The other motorcycle rider, Sunny Sharma (34) of Ambegon, escaped with minor injuries as he was wearing helmet,” said sub-inspector K B Jadhav of the Sahakarangar police, who is investigating the case, said.Sharma, a manager in an apparel and accessories showroom on Pune-Satara Road, has lodged a complaint with the police.The manager had gone for dinner on Thursday with his friends Nitin Igave and Azim Nazavi in a restaurant near Treasure Park society, off Pune-Satara Road. “After dinner, they started for their respective homes on three separate motorcycles,” Jadhav said.The lane in front of the Treasure Park connects Pune-Satara Road. “All the three took left turn on the Pune-Satara Road. “Igave and Azim were riding ahead of Sharma. As soon as the latter turned left, a speeding motorcycle coming from Swargate crashed into the rear of Sharma’s motorcycle,” Jadhav said.The three youths riding on the motorcycle flung into the air and fell towards the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) stretch. “Uday’s head hit against the cement divider separating the BRTS route from the Pune-Satara Road. Rohit and Rahul, too, suffered severe injuries,” Jadhav said.Sharma escaped with minor injuries as he had fallen on the other side of the road. “His friends — Igave and Azim — took him and the other three injured youths to a nearby hospital with the help of residents of the area, where Uday was declared dead on arrival. Rohit succumbed to injuries later,” Jadhav said.Sharma was discharged from the hospital after treatment.
