The driver has been asked to furnish the vehicle’s documents,” he stated.The Regional Transport Authority has framed guidelines for the school buses for the safety of students. The school bus committees are supposed to monitor movement of the drivers.“In view of Shelar’s death, we will re-issue instructions to all schools coming under our police station to ensure the guidelines are implemented in letter and spirt to prevent accidents,” said Yadav.

He was a resident of Sadguru Heights at Vitthalnagar.Assistant inspector Sandeep Yadav of the Bharati Vidyapeeth police on Saturday said, “Shelar was on his way to private tuition class. He was descending a slope when the bus ferrying students came from the opposite side and brushed aside his bicycle. He lost control over the bicycle and came under the rear wheel of the bus.”He said, “The student was seriously injured but alive. Passers-by rushed him to a nearby private hospital. Doctors declared him dead a few minutes after he was admitted. He died of multiple injuries.”Acting on an FIR registered by the victim’s father, the bus driver, Krishna Bajirao Bagul, from Ambegaon was booked under Section 304A (causing death due to negligence) and 279 (rash driving) of the Indian Penal Code among other charges of the Motor Vehicles Act. Bagul would be arrested after the Ganapati immersion and a chargesheet would be filed against him at the earliest, he said.“The driver told the police during questioning that he was driving in a normal speed and that he cannot be held liable because the student’s bicycle had hit the rear side left tyre of the bus. There are eyewitnesses and we are in the process of recording their statements.
