If the students are ready, then we will allow them to appear for the exam. This burdens the university to a great extent as the examination department has to set question papers, evaluation pattern for the cuurent pattern as well as the 2008 pattern for all the courses the university offers,” an official from the examination department said. The official further added, “The last time we saw there were approximately around 15,000 such students who failed the 2008 pattern. They can fill them until before five days of their respective first examination, which may be either the practical/viva examination or the written examination.” If they do not pass the exam this year, they will not be allowed to appear for the exams again or appeal for a re-exam. Now how many of them have dropped out and how many will appear for the examination can be identified only after we take stock of how many students fill up their examination forms.”Chavan said, “The students can start filling up the forms from Monday.

PUNE: The Savitribai Phule Pune University on Saturday decided to give the students following the 2008 pattern a last chance to appear for the term-end examinations in the 2018-19 academic year. These students who have been failing the examinations requested the university to allow them to write the exam despite the maximum time allowed being over.Ashok Chavan, the director of the Board of Examination and Evaluation, SPPU , said, “The students have to give an undertaking stating this is their last chance. These students can fill the examination form by giving the late fee.”As per the SPPU guidelines, a student can be allowed to continue a course for a maximum of two years in addition to the number of years of the course. For example, if engineering is a four-year course, then the student should complete it in four plus two, that is, six years. If engineering is a 4-year-course, the student should compulsorily complete it is 4+ 2 years ie 6 years“The students following the 2008 pattern have been appealing every year despite their regular and additional chances being over.
