PUNE: The Chikhali police on Sunday arrested an assistant sub-inspector posted at the Chikhali police station for making obscene phone calls to a woman . He was suspended on Saturday.Senior inspector Shankar Awatade of Chikhali police station told TOI, “We have arrested ASI Ramnath Palve.”According to the complaint, the woman who is a local political worker went to the police station late on Wednesday night to lodge a complaint against her husband who, she alleged, had assaulted her over a domestic issue.Palve, who was in the police chowkey that night, accepted the complaint application. She described on paper how her husband had beaten her up and how she had reached the police chowkey. She also added her phone number.Soon after, Palve started calling her up during the day and later even late at night on her cellphone.He began to speak lewdly to her on the phone. According to the police, he made over five phone calls to her in three days. Annoyed with this harassment, the woman approached senior police officers and submitted a complaint which led to his suspension.
