PUNE: The Pune police on Thursday filed a chargesheet in a special UAPA court against 10 persons, including top CPI (Maoist) leader Prashant Bose alias Kishanda and the five activists arrested on June 6 for their alleged links with the banned Maoist outfit, in the Elgar Parishad case "We have filed a 5,160-page chargesheet against the five arrested activists and five underground Maoist operatives, for charges ranging from planning to assassinate lawful authority to being founding members and supporters of CPI (Maoist) outfit; criminal conspiracy; promoting enmity; raising funds for the banned outfit and giving statements causing mischief," Pune police commissioner K Venkatesham said.The move comes barely a day before the Supreme Court's hearing on the Maharashtra government's appeal against the Bombay high court's order refusing additional time to the police for filing a chargesheet. Alleged provocative speeches and inflammatory statements at the Parishad contributed to the caste clashes at Koregaon Bhima near Pune on January 1.On June 7, district government pleader Ujjwala Pawar had furnished before special UAPA judge K D Vadane three letters purportedly recovered from the electronic devices of the arrested activists and one of these letters mentioned a plot to "end the Modi-raj and execute a Rajiv Gandhi style incident."
