Ratnagiri college stages lsquoMadamrsquo walks away with Purushottam Karandak

Ahmednagar College, Premraj Sarda College won the second prize while Marathwada Mitramandal College of Commerce stood third.Sarda College presented the play 'PCO' while the Marathwada college presented 'Afsana'.Marathi film director Pravin Tarde gave away the awards to the winners. PUNE: Gogate-Jogalekar College from Ratnagiri won this year's Purushottam Karandak for their play 'Madam'.The finals of the inter-college drama competition conducted by Maharashtra Kalopasak were held on Sunday. The best actor (female) was given to Monica Bankar for the play 'PCO'. Among the entries, four team awards, five individual and ten consolation prizes were given.The Sir Parshurambhau College received the best experimental play award. A total of 19 plays were presented in the final round.The best director award was given to Mukul Dhekle for the play 'Afsana' whereas best actor (male) was given to Hemant Shirke for the same play.

The judges for the final event included critic Raj Kazi, actor Chandrashekhar Kulkarni, actress Shubhangi Pathak, president of Maharashtra Kalopasak Kaka Nigojkar, secretary Rajendra Thakur Desai among others.This year, entries from Pune, Jalgaon, Ratnagiri Kolhapur and Nashik fought for the winners' trophy. Among the entries, four team awards, five individual and ten consolation prizes were given.The Sir Parshurambhau College received the best experimental play award.
