Suicide case: Ex-dy mayor's bail plea rejected

Mankar had spent the major period of judicial custody in the hospitals and, therefore, the investigation officer could not get sufficient time to conduct investigations.”Earlier, Mankar’s lawyer had filed a plea for his release on bail on the grounds of default under Section 167 (2) of the Criminal Procedure Code, as the 45-day time granted earlier for filing chargesheet had lapsed on Wednesday.The court, however, held that the officer had applied for the second extension on December 10 — two days before the expiry of the first 45-day extension.The court then rejected the former deputy mayor’s bail plea.
