Maha Leopard that killed Buddhist monk captured

CHANDRAPUR: The dreaded leopardess of TATR buffer was finally captured in a cage on Saturday morning. TATR buffer officials had laid 6 cages with baits to lure the man eater at village Arjuni after its recent kills. The leopardess is suspected to have killed five people in last five weeks, three of them during last four days. There is, however, no possibility of releasing the feline back into the wild as it has killed multiple people. Sources claimed that the beast got attracted to the bait and walked into the cage, installed at the farm where it had killed a woman on Friday.

CHANDRAPUR: The dreaded leopardess of TATR buffer was finally captured in a cage on Saturday morning. Forest department had ordered the capturing of the big cat after it killed three persons within four days in the buffer zone.Its latest kill at Arjuni had sparked tension and villagers had kept forest officers away from the dead body till evening demanding immediate capture of the beast. The leopardess is suspected to have killed five people in last five weeks, three of them during last four days. Its kills were particularly concentrated at village Arjuni and Ramdegi forest located 8 km apart.Alarmed by the killing spree of the feline, PCCF had ordered for tranquilizing and caging of problem animal. TATR buffer officials had laid 6 cages with baits to lure the man eater at village Arjuni after its recent kills. Sources claimed that the beast got attracted to the bait and walked into the cage, installed at the farm where it had killed a woman on Friday. Foresters monitoring the cage discovered the caged beast in the morning and removed it to Transit Treatment Centre (TTC) at Chandrapur with immediate effect .Deputy director, TATR (buffer), Gajendra Narwane informed that, the captured feline is a female leopard aged around two and half years. It was examined for injuries at TTC, and was declared fit. There is, however, no possibility of releasing the feline back into the wild as it has killed multiple people. Forester are going to compare the camera trap photos taken at Arjuni and Ramdegi to re-confirm that the same Leopardess was responsible human kills at both the places.
