Petrol and diesel prices begin upward climb

It was on October 18 that the petrol prices started declining and dropped below Rs85/litre on October 30. A few days ago, TOI had reported that petrol prices had fallen to a 13-month low this month. Since then, petrol and diesel prices have been falling. PUNE: Petrol and diesel prices have begun their upward climb again from January 10 after continuously falling since the past few months in the face of falling crude oil prices.As against the January 9 rate of Rs74.08 per litre, the price of petrol rose to Rs74.65 per litre till January 11, while diesel price rose to Rs64.65 per litre from the January 9 price of Rs64.04. Sources from the All India Petrol Dealers Association (AIPDA) told TOI that petrol prices are likely to marginally go up further in the city and may cross the Rs75 per litre mark in the coming few days.Petrol price in Pune had fallen below the Rs75 per litre mark on December 30, 2018, when it dropped to Rs74.55 from Rs75.05 on December 29.AIPDA sources said that the price of crude has now crossed 56 dollars per barrel, from the earlier 50 dollars per barrel.
