Intruder beats up molests robs Std XII student

PUNE: An intruder beat up a Standard XII student on Sunday before molesting and robbing her when she went to study for the board exam at her uncle’s house on NDA Road in Warje because her home was packed with relatives for a religious programme.The 19-year-old student was alone in her uncle’s house when the incident occurred. The shocked student was initially not ready to approach the police. She lodged an FIR with the Warje Malwadi police on Tuesday after her parents and relatives counselled her.“We are working on some clues,” said senior inspector Rekha Salunkhe of the Warje Malwadi police. Sub-inspector Sachin Nikam is probing the case. The police suspect the intruder had robbed another woman in the Warje area using the similar modus. “That woman has not yet lodged a complaint,” said a police officer.Nikam said the complainant was a resident of the Warje area. Her family had organized a religious programme at home on Sunday and many people had gathered to participate in it.“As the Standard XII examination is scheduled from February 21, the student decided to go to her uncle’s house to study,” Nikam said.The victim reached her uncle’s house around 3.30pm and went inside leaving the door ajar. Before she could return to close the door after keeping her bag, the man barged in. “The suspect locked the door and started abusing and beating up the student,” Nikam said.When the student raised an alarm, the suspect threatened her of dire consequences and told her to hand over her valuables to him. “He even told the student to remove her clothes so that she could not open the door and run away,” Nikam said.The student requested him not to harm her and gave him Rs600 after searching the drawers in the house. “The suspect then left,” Nikam said. The student peeped out of the window and saw the man pushing his two-wheeler. “She waited for a while and then rushed home,” Nikam said. “The student gave the description of the intruder to the police,” he said.
