Contest to spot sustainable technology for PMAY units

The shortlisted global technology providers would be invited to construct lighthouse projects within the framework of the PMAY at six identified locations. A total of 9,458 tenements would be developed under PMAY in Charholi, Ravet, Dudulgaon, Borhadewadi, Wadmukhwadi and Chikhali. Pimpri Chinchwad: The ministry of housing and urban affairs is conducting a global housing technology challenge (GHTC) for the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana.The challenge intends to identify and pilot “proven demonstrable technologies” from across the world. The challenge will also spot “potential emerging technologies” that are not market-ready yet and provide more technical improvements. Tenements, measuring 322 sqft will have facilities like solar-powered water heating system, sewage treatment plant, solid waste management and rainwater harvesting system.

The shortlisted global technology providers would be invited to construct lighthouse projects within the framework of the PMAY at six identified locations. The projects will showcase their effectiveness in terms of time, cost, quality and sustainability. The challenge will also spot “potential emerging technologies” that are not market-ready yet and provide more technical improvements. Incubation centres will be set up at four IITs for this purpose.The GHTC will involve all stakeholders — Central and state governments, academic institutions, private sector agencies and professional organizations. It would be organized by ministry in partnership with the National Real Estate Development Council.The PMAY mission guidelines instruct adoption of innovative, sustainable, and disaster-resistant technologies and building material for low-cost, fast and quality construction of affordable houses. Tenements, measuring 322 sqft will have facilities like solar-powered water heating system, sewage treatment plant, solid waste management and rainwater harvesting system. The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board has given the environmental clearance for the projects. A total of 9,458 tenements would be developed under PMAY in Charholi, Ravet, Dudulgaon, Borhadewadi, Wadmukhwadi and Chikhali.
