AURANGABAD: A 25-year old woman allegedly murdered her three-year old daughter before committing suicide by hanging herself in the bedroom of a three-storey house in the vicinity of Chawal Gate in the Begumpura area. The deceased have been identified as Amruta Kishore Muley and her daughter Avantika. Begumpura police received preliminary information at 5.30 pm, following which a team, led by the police sub-inspector, rushed to the spot. When they broke open the door, police found the woman hanging from the ceiling and her daugher hanging from a hook via a scarf.Begumpura police station inspector Rajshri Adhe told TOI, “Preliminary probe indicates that during the day, there was a tiff between Amruta and her husband Kishore after which he left the house in a hurry.”Citing information received from the officer who visited the spot, Adhe said that the woman might have murdered her daughter before committing suicide.“The door was latched from inside, making the chances of an outsider’s role less likely. Still, we are probing the case from all possible angles,” he said.Police said that after Kishore left, Amruta locked the door of her room from inside. Initially, the family members thought that she might have locked the room in a fit of rage and that she would come out after cooling down. When there was no response from inside the room, the family members got worried and brought the matter to the notice of the police. Both Amruta and her daughter were rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital where they were declared brought dead. Their bodies were later shifted to the mortuary for carrying out an autopsy. Police have registered a case of accidental death and are awaiting preliminary autopsy report. Police said that they were yet to reach out to her husband who is a parking operator.
