PUNE: Aspiring school and junior college teachers have threatened to campaign against the BJP in the coming Lok Sabha elections if the recruitment process did not start before the enforcement of the model code of conduct.The education department had last week said that the advertisements of the recruitment process would be published by the end of this week.Sajjan Munde, one of the aspirants who has cleared both the Teacher Eligibility Test and the Teacher Aptitude and Intelligence Test of 2017, said, “We had filed an RTI application with the education department to know the exact number of vacant positions in classes I-XII. We got a reply that about 43,409 posts are vacant in the state.”He added, “We met some ministers in the state with the data. We were told that the RTI data is wrong. What is the point of having RTI if the data is wrong?”Munde said, “The education department has said it will publish an advertisement by February 25. We will wait till then, or else we will stage a protest in Mumbai. If the protest does not work, we have plans to campaign against the BJP.”Aaba Mali, an aspiring teacher from Solapur , is also miffed with the recruitment delay . “If every aspiring teacher starts campaigning against the BJP, it will be a big problem for the party. We had staged protest in every district and were also on a hunger strike ,” he said.“If the government doesn’t start recruitment before the model code of conduct is enforced, we will be left with no option but to campaign against the BJP,” Mali said.
