Men in SUV booked for stealing puppies in Aundh

PUNE: Unidentified men travelling in an SUV have been booked for allegedly stealing two puppies from a housing society on ITI Road in Aundh on February 14.The Chatushrungi police have recovered a CCTV footage from the housing society and have registered a case of theft. Koli said the two puppies were of local breed and were looked after by the residents of ITI Road. “We have also approached the local ward office, asking them if their men were behind the act,” an officer said. “The footage shows that two men were wearing similar to that of PMC security officials. “The residents here had earlier opposed the PMC staffers from taking away the two puppies a few days back,” the police said.Koli said after a woman from the ITI Road lodged a complaint, the police booked the unidentified men for theft.

Their two accomplices were wearing uniforms similar to that worn by private security agency guards, while another suspect was in plain clothes,” an officer with the Chatushrungi police said.Sub inspector Vijay Koli of the Chatushrungi police is investigating the case. Koli said the two puppies were of local breed and were looked after by the residents of ITI Road. “The residents here had earlier opposed the PMC staffers from taking away the two puppies a few days back,” the police said.Koli said after a woman from the ITI Road lodged a complaint, the police booked the unidentified men for theft. “We are in the process of obtaining more details, including the registration number of the SUV, to trace the suspects,” he said.The police suspect that some of the local residents must have hired the suspects to take the dogs away. “We have also approached the local ward office, asking them if their men were behind the act,” an officer said.
