Pune: First-year LLB students of Savitribai Phule Pune University ( SPPU ) are opposed to the administration’s decision to conduct re-examination of the two question papers that were allegedly leaked. The standard operating procedure of the university is to upload previous year’s question papers on its official website ahead of the examination. But on February 14, the university accidentally uploaded the question papers of the examinations scheduled for the students following the 2017 pattern of the test on February 15 and 16.The students said there should not be any re-examination because they were not at fault for the “paper leak”.“The first-year examination of the LLB course was supposed to be held in December last year. It got delayed and is happening now. In January, we had our internal examinations for the first semester. Within another month, we will have the internal examinations for the second semester,” a student said.“How does the university expect us to study for exams every month? This is stressful and the situation has not been managed well by the examination department of the university. Instead of conducting a re-examination and creating unnecessary stress for us, the university must punish the people responsible for the question paper leak and find a way to give us the marks without any re-examination,” he added.Another student, who is a working professional but has joined Yashwantrao Chavan Law College, said, “Law is a subject that many people working in various fields take up. We already have a hectic life and are trying to take out time because we want to pursue a degree in law. There should not be any re-examination.”The university officials, however, remained firm on the re-examination, for which the date would be declared soon.On Friday, a youth organization will hold a protest march on the SPPU campus demanding the resignation of the director of the board of examination and evaluation, Ashok Chavan. “The department had uploaded the question paper on the SPPU website before conducting the examination,” the association said in a statement.
