14 board members of edu society face probe

He alleged that Inamdar had “deleted” several legal members to illegally push his members into the society and take control of its affairs since April 1986 when he became its president.“The accused in furtherance of their common intention destroyed the original record, that is the list of members as per the constitution of 1948, and prepared a forged and bogus list of members,” the complaint stated. “By destroying and hiding the original membership register, the accused governed the society by systematically abusing its constitution and the process of law for unlawful gain,” it added.Bagban moved the complaint seeking prosecution of the 14 MCES members under sections 420, 465, 468, 467, 471 and 34 of the IPC which deal with cheating, forgery, use of forged documents and common intention. It is an educational society registered under the Society's Registration Act of 1860 and also a Public Trust registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act 1950.The society runs a chain of schools and higher, medical, technical and professional academic institutes in the fields of arts, science, commerce, computer science, law, education, management sciences, architecture & information technology from its complex familiar as “Azam Campus”.In his complaint moved through lawyer Mohammad Imran Shaikh, Bagban alleged that Inamdar had replaced the society’s original constitution of 1948 with a bogus one of 1967. PUNE: A magisterial court here has directed the Cantonment police to register an offence against P A Inamdar, president of the Maharashtra Cosmopolitan Education Society (MCES), and 13 members of its governing board for alleged malpractices in its administration.“Perusal of application and documents placed on record prima facie discloses commission of cognisable offence,” judicial magistrate first class A S Deshpande of the cantonment court said on March 16 while disposing of a private complaint moved in 2016 under Section 156 (3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure by a Kondhwa resident, Anwar G Bagban, who claims to be a member of the society.“A detail investigation is required and for that purpose it is necessary to direct the police station concerned to conduct the investigation on the basis of the complaint made by the applicant (Bagban),” the court said.One of the oldest educational organizations in Pune, MCES was established in 1948 by late Abdul Kadir Khan and others with an objective of providing education to the economically, educationally and socially weaker sections of society.
