Baner man falls prey to card cloning, loses Rs 95K

Later, the Deccan Gymkhana police registered an offence.Lagad said that Dixit had visited Pune a few months ago and went to a few places in the city. It steals the card’s data from its magnetic strip.The suspects then used the cloned card and withdrew cash from ATM centres in Moradabad, Lagad said.“He realised the fraud after he went back to Thailand and attempted to use the ATM card there. After his transactions were declined, he studied the account details and realised the fraud,” Lagad said.He wrote a complaint email to the city police following which an offence was registered, Lagad said.

PUNE: The Deccan Gymkhana police on Monday booked unidentified persons for stealing data from an ATM card and withdrawing Rs 95,000 from ATM centres in Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh on February 19 and 20 this year using a cloned card .The complainant, Abhishekh Dixit, is a resident of Baner but is employed with a private company in Thailand , said senior inspector Deepak Lagad of the Deccan Gymkhana Police Station.Dixit lodged an online complaint a few days ago and the cybercrime branch studied the case. Later, the Deccan Gymkhana police registered an offence.Lagad said that Dixit had visited Pune a few months ago and went to a few places in the city.
