PUNE: Jet Airways is currently operating just four flights to/from the city — two each connecting Delhi and Mumbai.The airline — facing acute financial crisis — has suspended operations of several flights connecting the city with different places. A source in the airport expressed doubt over its ability to resume operations to international destinations Singapore and Abu Dhabi after the winter schedule, ending on March 30.“Till recently, the airline operated flights to four destinations — Delhi, Mumbai, Singapore and Abu Dhabi — from the city. Now, the flights to Singapore and Abu Dhabi have been suspended. We don’t know the plan for the summer schedule (from March 31), as the directorate general of civil aviation (DGCA) draws up the schedule. The international operations of the airline from Pune could remain suspended,” an airport official told TOI.Before the crisis, the airline operated 21 flights to different destinations. The airline has suspended its flights to Singapore and Abu Dhabi till the end of this month.The large-scale cancellation left many flyers in the lurch. Ashutosh Shiwankar, who was to travel to Abu Dhabi from the city earlier this week, said he learnt about the cancellation of his flight after reaching the boarding gate.“The flight information display screens stated that the flight was ‘scheduled’ and there was no notification from Jet. I checked in and completed the formalities to proceed to the boarding gate, where there was no one. When I enquired, I was told that the flight was cancelled. Since I had to travel to London from Abu Dhabi, the Jet officials accommodated me in a Mumbai-London flight the following day. However, I had to undertake the trip from Pune to Mumbai myself. The Airports Authority of India should properly coordinate with the airline to sort these issues out,” he said.
