PUNE: An engineering student was arrested on Saturday, a day after he allegedly flashed at women exercising on the jogging track connecting Prabhat Road and BMCC Road.One of the women (29), a resident of Prabhat Road, lodged a complaint with the Deccan Gymkhana police after the incident, occurring between 7.30am and 7.45am on Friday. According to the complaint, a scooter rider came near the jogging track, close to the Old Canal Road (the junction of Canal Road and Prabhat Road) and stopped.He pulled down his trousers after spotting the complainant. He did the same after spotting another group of women. On both the occasions, he flashed at the women walking or jogging on the track. He also walked a few steps on the track with his pants down, police said.His act caused panic and commotions among the joggers, who raised an alarm. The scooter rider then sped away, the police said.A team headed by senior inspector Deepak Lagad checked the CCTV footage of the area and realized that the man was riding a scooter registered with the Jalgaon Regional Transport office (RTO). The police traced his permanent address and contacted his family members there.On Saturday, the police team zeroed in on him in the city after locating his Pune address. The suspect has been identified as Yugesh Nandkumar Bharunge (24), currently staying in Kothrud and having his roots in Jalgaon. The police are questioning him on the incident.Lagad said it was an offending act. As the incident occurred in a public place, the police took it seriously and arrested him. “He has just completed his engineering course and his results are awaited. He is searching job in the city,” he said.Bharunge was arrested under sections 354 (D) [stalking] and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code
