PUNE: Three men brutally attacked a 19-year-old college student inside a gated society in Kondhwa on Friday night.The victim, Abdulla Durraj Gore, a first-year BSc student, has registered an FIR with the Kondhwa police, who arrested the men. “Sufiyan Khan and Abdulla Shaikh attacked me with an iron rod once I got out of the car. I tried to pacify him, but when he didn’t relent, I drove into the society,” Gore told TOI.Ubed chased Gore inside the society and even called his friends, who came there on motorcycles. Senior inspector Anil Patil of the Kondhwa police said this was a road rage incident. The weapons used in the crime were seized.”“Hassan, a businessman, had obtained an all-India firearms licence from the district magistrate in Allahabad.

The suspects, Ubed Saeed Khan (30), Sufiyan Rafique Khan (33) and Abdulla Raja Shaikh (28), have been remanded in magisterial custody and sent to Yerawada jail.Gore, a resident of Ujjwal Park housing society on NIBM Road, drove in a hatchback car to meet his aunt at Konark Pooram society. He turned right sharply into the rear gate of the society on NIBM Bypass Road, narrowly cutting off a motorcycle coming from the opposite side.“I had flashed the indicator and sounded the horn while turning. Ubed was on the phone while riding the bike. I thought my vehicle grazed his bike and stepped out of the car to apologize, but he abused me and hit me with his helmet. I tried to pacify him, but when he didn’t relent, I drove into the society,” Gore told TOI.Ubed chased Gore inside the society and even called his friends, who came there on motorcycles. “Sufiyan Khan and Abdulla Shaikh attacked me with an iron rod once I got out of the car. My aunt rushed out of her flat and tried to intervene, but they abused her too,” Gore said.Gore then called his cousin Hassan, who told the attackers to stay away. “They were in no mood to listen, forcing my cousin to brandish his licensed revolver and fire it into the air,” Gore said.The suspects panicked and ran away. Gore, who suffered injuries across his body, called the police. Senior inspector Anil Patil of the Kondhwa police said this was a road rage incident. “The assailants, employees of private firms, don’t know the victim. We have arrested the trio under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Maharashtra Police Act,” Patil said.Inspector Mahadeo Kumbhar said, “Hassan fired in the air as the assailants attacked the student on his head. The weapons used in the crime were seized.”“Hassan, a businessman, had obtained an all-India firearms licence from the district magistrate in Allahabad. The licence is registered with the Pune police,” assistant inspector Vivek Padvi said.
