Pune: Play to fight anxiety among slum dwellers

Professor Raghu Raghavan, head of the project, said, “Mental health awareness has certainly grown in the mainstream but resilience in migrants slum dwellers was an area barely explored. AdvertisingThe play was part of an international research project led by De Montfort University (DMU), Leicester, United Kingdom, which focuses on the mental health resilience of migrant slum dwellers. It was an attempt to start a conversation on mental health of migrantsin Pune. The skit hinted towards one of the ways to tackle mental health issues — seek help from the people you trust because compassion and teamwork will help you out. The research is funded by the UK’s Medical Research Council, Arts and Humanities Research Council and the Global Challenges Research Fund.
