Pune reports over seven fresh COVID deaths, 737 new cases in districts

Till now, 3, 53,070 people have battled Covid. Among the fresh cases, 387 are in PMC limits, 146 in Pimpri-Chinchwad, 151 in Pune rural and 53 in cantonment board regions. There are 2,678 active Covid cases in the civic body limits out of which 202 are serious. 

Dr Ashish Bharti, civic body health chief said that yesterday, 5,043 tests were done by the civic body, taking the total to 9.46 lakh. Nagpur recorded more than 500 fresh cases, taking its tally to 1, 28,353, of which 4,837 are active. 12 deaths saw the toll reach 3,242. 

Satara recorded a single death as its toll stood at 1,780, while 58 new cases saw the total case tally increase to 55,022, of which just 756 are active. In Maharashtra, 3,729 fresh cases were recorded. The tally has now increased to 19, 58,282. 

The death toll is at 49,897. 3,350 Covid patients were discharged yesterday. The total is at 18, 56,109 and active cases at 51,111 in Maharashtra. The recovery rate is at 94.78% and case fatality rate at 2.55%. Maharashtra health authorities said that the three UK returnees with the new Covid strain found yesterday are from Pimpri-Chinchwad in the district and all 11 cases are asymptomatic. 

Of these, two patients have been discharged after two weeks of quarantine and their two consecutive RT-PCR tests have returned negative.
