Pune district reports 685 fresh COVID cases, death toll over 9,000

The Pune district on Thursday, reported 685 fresh Covid cases and around 600 recoveries yesterday, taking the respective totals to 3, 70,913 and 3, 56,580, according to officials.

The Pune district on Thursday, reported 685 fresh Covid cases and around 600 recoveries yesterday, taking the respective totals to 3, 70,913 and 3, 56,580, according to officials.

The death toll in Pune district is around 9,000. Dr Bhagwan Pawar, Pune district health officer said that among the fresh cases, 314 are in PMC, 163 are in Pimpri-Chinchwad, 156 in Pune rural and 52 in cantonment areas. The deaths included a 52-year-old man from Kharalwadi. He was the youngest patient to die of Covid. 

Another 56-year-old man from Ahmednagar died of Covid. The cause of death is said to be acute respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, and septic shock. The patient was suffering from high blood pressure, renal issues, and diabetes. A 65-year-old man from Kothrud passed away because of type-1 respiratory failure in ARDS, sepsis, and septic shock. The patient was suffering from hypertension and diabetes.

Maharashtra recorded 3,556 new cases over the last one day. The tally is now at 19, 78,044. The death toll is at 50,221. 3,009 Covid patients recovered, taking the number to 18, 74,279. There are 52,365 active cases in Maharashtra. The recovery rate is at 94.75% and the case fatality rate at 2.54%.
