Due to the initiative, Tata Memorial Hospital has been able to spread cancer awareness across Maharashtra, benefiting many women from remote villages.
PUNE: Glitz and glamour marked the countdown for Times Women 's Drive (TWD), the biggest all-women car drive in the country.As many as 240 women participated in the pre-drive briefing session held at Westin in Pune recently.The eighth edition of Times Women's Drive will be flagged off simultaneously from Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore on Saturday, April 29 and head towards Goa.
Times Women's Drive has been working closely with Women's Cancer Initiative - Tata Memorial Hospital since inception and a large part of money collected through registration, is donated to the hospital.The drive had a modest beginning with 250 cars driving from Mumbai.
"Times Women's Drive is conceptualised by Times IBCE and supported by Dr Aeroguard, New India Assurance, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Inc 5, Pepe Jeans, Fitternity, Zola, Timesavers, Kolte Patil - Life, Indian Automotive Racing Club affiliated to FMSCI and Women's Cancer Initiative - Tata Memorial Hospital.
After being certified the biggest drive in the world, TWD doubled the distance and added Bengaluru last year.Deveika Bhojwani, vice-president of Women's Cancer Initiative - Tata Memorial Hospital, said, "The drive has led to more women being aware about cancers affecting them.
