Joint CP Ramanand, 136 other cops transferred across Maharashtra

PUNE: In a major, state-wide reshuffle in the police department, the Maharashtra government has transferred 137 officers. The order was issued on Thursday night.According to the transfer order, Sunil Ramanand, who was posted in Pune as the joint commissioner of police will now join the state criminal investigation department (CID) in Pune. Vitthal Jadhav, the special inspector general of police in Amravati has been transferred to the prisons department here.Solapur police commisisoner Ravindra Sengaonkar has been transferred to Pune police as additional commissioner of police (south region). He got 45 hardened criminals detained under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities. Kadam has vast experience in anti-naxal operations, and is credited with bringing several former naxal cadres into the main stream.C H Wakade, who was the special inspector general of police, state prisons department in Pune has been transferred to Amravati.

Ramanand will be replaced by Ravindra Kadam, who was posted in Mumbai as the special inspector general of police (CID) in Mumbai.Ramanand had prosecuted over 250 criminals, including chain-snatching gangs and minors involved in serious crimes and drug peddlers, under stringent provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act. He got 45 hardened criminals detained under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities.
