Pimpri Chinchwad: The civic body is looking into the allegations of corruption raised by a citizen against one of its senior officials on the public grievance web portal of the Union government.Municipal commissioner Shravan Hardikar confirmed that the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) was, through the portal, directed a month ago to take "appropriate action " against the official concerned ."We had sought information from the officer, against whom these allegations were made," Hardikar said, adding that officer had stopped taking bills from contractors for work completed in the 2016-17 fiscal on the midnight of March 31, 2017."This is absolutely legal. The officer also said he had not sought any money from anyone, as claimed in the complaint," the municipal commissioner told TOI."We managed to trace the complainant after a long search. We have asked him to furnish proof in support of his allegations. We will decide the course of action after obtaining the proofs," Hardikar said.When contacted, the officer against whom the complaint was registered, said the allegations are completely baseless."I have requested the municipal commissioner to investigate into the charges. The complainant has made allegations against the department, civic office-bearers, among others. He had sought some work which is against the prescribed rules. I cannot violate rules," he told TOI.
