Another three districts in Marathwada--Hingoli, Nanded and Osmanabad-report varying degrees of rainfall deficiency, though the subdivision as a whole currently shows al most normal, rainfall performance is at a 7% deficit.The entire Vidarbha is currently reeling under deficient monsoon conditions with a 28% rainfall deficit . However, prolonged dry spell in August and subdued rain in September have widened the deficits in some districts, especially in central and northwestern parts of India," an IMD official said. "Many districts were out of the `red' in July. PUNE: A little over two weeks till October, when the monsoon begins departing from Maharashtra , and 14 districts of the 36 appear in patches of 'red' in India Meteorological Department's (IMD) state rainfall map.Though rainfall over the state at large has been normal, with 6% rainfall deficiency for Maharashtra as a whole since June 1, it is the spatial distribution of rain that is worrisome, especially since many districts are in the agricultural belt.Eleven districts, including Sindhudurg, Nandurbar, Aurangabad and Parbhani, show less than normal rain this season , but are still in the `red' as per IMD's rain deficiency definition.Three of the 10 districts in central Maharashtra--Jalgaon, Kolhapur and Sangli-are deficient.
