Pune students take to ‘Microb(e)logging’

Why do people study these organisms and do extensive research, is what the new ‘Microbial Science Outreach Initiative’, launched on Tuesday, is aiming to answer. Shouche said the blogs were dedicated to creating awareness about microbial science among people, by translating the scientific knowledge into laymen terms. Spearheaded by Shouche’s students, the initiative was launched by Professor Samir Brahmachari, former director general of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). In a unique attempt to demystify the complex community of microbes, a team of students, led by Dr Yogesh Shouche, who is in charge at the National Centre for Microbial Resource (NCMR), has introduced ‘Microb(e)logging’.
