Private vehicles to operate from MSRTC depots during strike

The MSRTC buses that have been parked at these depots will be shifted to the College of Engineering Pune (COEP) grounds to make space for the private vehicles. PUNE: District collector Saurabh Rao has made a requisition for 635 private vehicles, including school buses and tempos, to operate from the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) depots in the wake of the transport body's ongoing indefinite strike.Rao said the private vehicles will operate from the Swargate, Shivajinagar and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation depots. The PMPML would also release 125 buses to help out during this period.Using his powers as head of the district disaster management authority (DDMA), Rao issued notices to private vehicle-owners to help the state government during the strike period and operate from these depots. The demand would be stepped up to 1,000 vehicles soon.
