Garment dealer found murdered

Pune: A 37-year-old garment dealer, Kulwant Juneja, from Pimpri was found murdered in his flat in Monika Apartments on Tapovan Road on Tuesday.The Pimpri police had initially registered a case of accidental death, but after the post mortem report revealed that Juneja was smothered to death, the case was registered as murder.Senior inspector Vivek Mugalikar said Juneja used to deal with garment traders in Mumbai. "After sending the body for post mortem, we registered a case of accidental death, the same was changed after the post mortem report revealed that Juneja was smothered to death," Mugalikar said. "As his family members were not ready to register a case, we registered an offence of murder. After that he had gone to his room to sleep," Mugalikar said.When Juneja's 11-year-old niece went to his room around 10am to get some clothes, she found him lying on the floor. "We are probing the case from all angles," Mugalikar added.

"He was not married and was staying with his aged mother, sister-in-law and her daughter," he added.As per Juneja's mother's statement to the police, Juneja had returned home around 3.30am on Tuesday. "She had opened the door for him. After that he had gone to his room to sleep," Mugalikar said.When Juneja's 11-year-old niece went to his room around 10am to get some clothes, she found him lying on the floor. "She alerted her grandmother who called a doctor," Mugalikar said.After checking Juneja, the doctor found that he was dead "and he immediately informed us," Mugalikar said.When the police reached the house, they found Juneja lying on the floor. A dupatta was around his neck and he was not wearing a shirt. "After sending the body for post mortem, we registered a case of accidental death, the same was changed after the post mortem report revealed that Juneja was smothered to death," Mugalikar said."As his family members were not ready to register a case, we registered an offence of murder. A sub-inspector is the complainant in the case," he said.Mugalikar said there was no sign of forced entry into the house and nothing was missing from the flat. "We are probing the case from all angles," Mugalikar added.
