Maoist violence will not stop Bastar's development: CM Raman Singh

Addressing a gathering in Bhopalpattnam in Bijapur district, the chief minister said, "I do what I say. I have promised to get electricity to last village of Bijapur district in six months' time and it will happen for sure. "The chief minister also said that Bhopalpattnam will soon emerge as a huge trading centre for businessman. Singh said that this would send out a message to the public that development in the area will go on and condemn the Maoist attack on security forces. The chief minister will halt for the night at Bacheli in Dantewada district - not far from the site of last week's attack that killed seven security personnel.

RAIPUR: Chief minister Raman Singh - who is touring the state under his Vikas Yatra - said on Tuesday that development work will not stop in Naxal-hit districts despite several attempts by Maoists to deter it.The chief minister will visit seven districts - Bijapur, Bastar, Dantewada , Kanker, Balod, Dhamtari and Rajnandgaon in the next three days. He said he will convey the message of growth to the residents of Naxal-hit villagers.Singh spoke to media before leaving for the Vikas Yatra and said, "Maoists recently attacked security personnel, but the development work in Bastar will not be stop fearing them." The chief minister will halt for the night at Bacheli in Dantewada district - not far from the site of last week's attack that killed seven security personnel. Singh said that this would send out a message to the public that development in the area will go on and condemn the Maoist attack on security forces. I have promised to get electricity to last village of Bijapur district in six months' time and it will happen for sure. There wouldn't be a single household without electricity."The chief minister also said that Bhopalpattnam will soon emerge as a huge trading centre for businessman. "We are laying extensive network of roads and bridges to usher in development and provide resources to the local population," Singh said.According to the chief minister's schedule, after the public meeting in Bijapur, Bastar and Dantewada, he will halt at Bacheli overnight and meet the media in the morning before leaving for Antagarh in Kanker.Meanwhile, the rebels in Kanker have left leaflets protesting CM's Vikas Yatra calling it a ' Vinash Yatra ' and appealing the local leaders not to participate in the programme, and chase away BJP workers.
