Raipur: Cousins die after biking 'live' on Facebook

They died on the spot.The bus driver lost control of the steering wheel and the bus veered off the road and into a field.It overturned, injuring 13 passengers. Villagers and passersby took the injured to hospital.Police verified that the Nishad cousins were 'live' on FB around 11.12am and denied that social media or negligence was to blame for the accident. The others are admitted to Charama Hospital.

RAIPUR: Soon after they went live on Facebook, two cousins were killed when a speeding bus rammed into them on NH30 near Charama in Kanker on Sunday.Thirteen passengers on the bus were injured, some of them severely.Initial reports suggested that Manish and Murli Nishad were hit while they were live on FB, but their families and friends denied this, pointing out that the video was already uploaded when the accident happened. The injured passengers said it was the driver's fault - he was going too fast and couldn't control the bus. Manish and Murli were standing on the roadside when they were crushed, say witnesses.Manish, who is from Jagdalpur , and Murli from Drajim were biking on Kanker-Jagdalpur Road and had stopped near Charama when the bus barrelled into them. They died on the spot.The bus driver lost control of the steering wheel and the bus veered off the road and into a field.It overturned, injuring 13 passengers. Villagers and passersby took the injured to hospital.Police verified that the Nishad cousins were 'live' on FB around 11.12am and denied that social media or negligence was to blame for the accident. The injured passengers were quoted as saying that the bus driver was careless and over-speeding.Some passengers alleged that he was staring at women sitting in the front of the bus, which distracted him, and he was reportedly talking on the mobile phone when the incident took place.The driver was said to be absconding till the time of filing this report.
