Woman's house goes 'missin' under PM Aawas scheme in Chhattisgarh

RAIPUR: A 60-year-old woman's house “built” under Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojana in Pendra region of Bilaspur has gone missing, she alleged in her police complaint.Living in a dilapidated mud house , the government records show that she has been provided with two instalments for construction of her house. It was found that she has got the money transferred to her account.According to the report, it was recommended that Draupadi should be suspended with immediate effect followed by an FIR lodged against her. It was only during cross-checking was being done by a team, Phuljharia realised that despite her name mentioned in the list of beneficiaries, she hasn’t received a pakka house.“Later, I found that the ‘aawas mitra’ Draupadi Kewat was constructing a house on my name in the backyard of her own house. Smelling foul, the woman approached police.According to the complaint, (copy of which is with TOI), name of Phuljharia Bai of Adbhar village in Pendra was enlisted in PM Aawas scheme for 2018-19, but she had no information about the same nor was she intimated by any official. It was also evident that there were others who were involved with her in irregularities, against which further investigation was recommended, the report stated.However, police said that one the department inquiry is done, FIR would be lodged depending upon the preliminary probe.

In fact she went to an extent that in the ‘geo tagging’ photograph, she showed another woman identified as Usha Pav standing in front of the house as false evidence for making first instalment of Rs 35000 on August 30 and second instalment was made to account of another woman Duwasiya Bai on pretext of building house that was supposed to be in my name,” Phuljharia stated to police in her complaint.The woman alleged that her house was hence missing as she has no such infrastructure as stated on records. She also alleged that two employees of Pendra Janpad office in PM Aawas scheme were hand in gloves with Draupadi who were involved in irregularities of monetary transactions.The matter after being high;ighted in media, Janpad CEO had to order an inquiry on Monday.Talking to TOI, Pendra Janpad CEO CL Ghritlehre said that an inquiry team has submitted its report and preliminary report stated that Aawas mitra Draupadi Kewat was involved in swindling of money and fake geo-tagging to mislead government and also making some monetary gain. It was found that she has got the money transferred to her account.According to the report, it was recommended that Draupadi should be suspended with immediate effect followed by an FIR lodged against her.
