RAIPUR: Sick and traumatized with repeated rape by her father, a 17-year-old girl took resort to Childline as she was silenced by her own family members when she shared her ordeal with them in the hope of getting help.The minor girl, hailing from Bilaspur district , belongs to poor family and her family of nine members would sleep in the same room when her father took advantage of the situation and raped her repeatedly. When it became too traumatic for her to handle, she gathered courage and filed a complaint.According to information received, the matter was reported at Civil Lines police station in Bilaspur based on complaints of the girl's mother before a counselling session by Childline and Commission for Protection of Child Rights.The girl stated that since their living space was extremely small, her family of nine, including six siblings were forced to sleep in a cramped condition. That is when her father took advantage and about a year ago, touched her inappropriately for the first time, while she was asleep. Initially, the girl refused to realize that her father was deliberately touching her but her ordeal continued as he returned home drunk, she told police.The girl said that she tried to look the other way but gradually her father was turning into a beast and started raping her. Not able to take it any longer, she told her mother about her plight. Her mother was shocked but she chose to keep quiet since she thought that reporting the matter to police would bring bad name to the family and punishment to her husband.On November 17, the minor was raped for the first time when she was alone at home. Meanwhile, the girl felt mentally disturbed and while going to school, she learnt about 1098 child helpline number. When she realized that her mother was not in a condition to help her, she gathered courage and decided to call the helpline number.The minor was counselled and told to report the incident to police with their help. Her mother was also contacted and an FIR was lodged on Thursday evening. The rape accused was arrested from his home on Friday under IPC and POCSO Act.The girl is still undergoing counselling sessions so that she leads a normal life and is free from guilt of sending her father to jail.In another incident, cops have arrested a youth accused of rape after blackmailing a married woman. The duo came in contact with each other through a fake call. The woman, hailing from Masturi in Bilaspur reported that the man, identified as Govind Sahu, (20), called her up on her mobile phone few months back and said the call went by mistake. But soon Sahu befriended her and they started talking on a regular basis.Sahu proposed her for marriage, in spite of knowing that the woman was already married. He had also recorded the conversation audio, which he later on used to blackmail her to get closer. He also threatened her of sharing the audio clip with her family members and forced her to sleep with her.He then raped her and recorded the intimate moments on his phone to blackmail her further to continue the relationship. Police said that woman finally told her ordeal to her husband and he reported the matter to police. The accused youth was arrested from Champaran
