EVMs to be taken for counting under CCTV vigil, says Election Commission

RAIPUR: As per election commission EC ) directives, CCTV cameras are being installed along the route on which EVMs are to be transported from the strong room here to the counting centre - footages of which will be recorded and be visible real time to the returning officer (RO). Apart from this, one table would be for postal ballots and VVPAT counting, he added. The strong room will be unlocked at 7am in the presence of the election officer, general observer and candidates or their agents.The Raipur collector said that 14-14 tables would be put up for counting of votes of each assembly constituency. A screen would be set up in the RO office, where the footages would be visible, he added.Counting of votes for Raipur district's constituencies will be held at the Government Engineering College, Sejbahar. Raipur collector and district election officer Dr Basavaraju S on Saturday evening gave directions to all authorities concerned and candidates as well as their party workers of all the seven constituencies of the district regarding the counting of votes.He said, as per EC directives, CCTV cameras were being installed along the route EVMs would be taken from the strong room to the counting area.
