RAIPUR: After its landslide win in Chhattisgarh, Congress has announced that its government would implement its poll promises with honesty within a prescribed time frame besides probing the May 2013 Maoist attack in Bastar that had eliminated its frontline leaders and numerous cases of corruption during the 15 year BJP regime.Addressing a press conference at Rajiv Bhawan, the state party headquarters, AICC general secretary P L Punia said such a landslide victory is an indication that people have reposed their faith in the promises made by the Congress. On behalf of the state Congress and AICC, I assure the people that all promises would be fulfilled", he added.Stating that the Congress fought the elections under a collective leadership, Punia said Congress leaders and party workers worked systematically even at the booth level and won the confidence of the people. He said the people have failed the ill-intentions of the opportunistic third front alliance of Janata Congress-BSP- CPI alliance, led by former chief minister Ajit Jogi , and gave a clear mandate to the Congress.Replying to a question about the possibility of former chief minister Ajit Jogi’s return to the Congress, the AICC general secretary said "For him, the doors are closed". "Earlier there were some efforts for his return to the Congress but we have made it clear that it’s not possible", he added.PCC president Bhupesh Baghel described it as a victory of democracy over BJP’s money power and the group of corrupt officers, who also indulged in conspiracies to protect the vested interests of their masters. While the Congress would probe cases of corruption, its government would not take any vindictive action against anyone, he added.Punia said the meeting of the newly elected Congress Legislature Party (CLP) would be held as soon as the legislators reach the state capital.
