BJP: Farmers feel cheated by Congress

There are over 37 lakh farmers in state, but Congress claims it has data of only 16 lakh farmers. RAIPUR: State BJP on Monday held a meeting with party’s Kisan Morcha to gauge farmers’ mood ahead of Lok Sabha elections.Addressing the state working committee of Kisan Morcha, leader of opposition in assembly, Dharmlal Kaushik said that Congress deceived farmers to win elections. He alleged that farmers are feeling cheated as Congress failed to waive off farm loans and buy paddy at the promised rate of Rs2,500.Farmers will soon get to see the real face of Congress, he said. In addition, Congress is buying paddy at a price of Rs2,050 instead of the rate of Rs2,500 it promised before elections. “Our government was dedicated to farmers and worked for their benefit at the grass roots level, but now farmers are feeling cheated by Congress party, which failed to fulfil their promises,” said Kaushik.BJP state spokesperson, Gauri Shankar Shrivas said, “Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel admitted to not having the complete details of loan data of farmers from nationalised bank.

As of now, loan of only 4 lakh farmers has been waived.”Frontline leader of Kisan Morcha, Rampratap Singh said, “We have always been concerned about the interest of farmers, and a widespread movement has to be initiated to save farmers’ future.” BJP leader Pawan Sai said, to safeguard farmers’ interest there should be frequent conversations held with farmers to take them out of the “Congress’s illusion”.State chancellor of Kisan Morcha Shailendra Singh Sengar under the leadership of former CM Raman Singh, work was undertaken to develop agriculture section.
