Romanticising chai

Manohar Shukla, a BBA student from the city, says, “We have seen food trucks, but a chai katta is way cooler. Suddenly, one day this idea of a chai bus struck us. These chai kattas in the city are hotspots among the youngsters and an excuse to meet one another. Pratik Sharma, a banker who recently visited the place, says, “I had heard about the place and wanted to visit it for a while.

Winter is nearning its end and chai-lovers of the city are making a beeline for their favourite cuppa to indugle in chit-chat and hangout sessions before the scorching summers. These chai kattas in the city are hotspots among the youngsters and an excuse to meet one another. Manohar Shukla, a BBA student from the city, says, “We have seen food trucks, but a chai katta is way cooler. Whenever I visit this place at Telibandha Lake, I can’t help but feel relax and happy, thanks to a cuppa.” On the idea behind the bus, Akshay says, “I was working with a software company in Raipur and was thinking about doing something different in the F&B industry. Kamlesh and I were contemplating a themed café at first but scrapped the idea. Suddenly, one day this idea of a chai bus struck us. Luckily, we got an old, school bus almost immediately, renovated it and turned it into a café.”The bus has a kitchen inside and though it’s in a working condition, the duo hasn’t planned to move it around yet. City-based Shoaib Shaikh, who has customised the interiors of the bus, shares, “Accommodation of furniture was a challenge, but we changed a few things and retained the feel of a state transport bus. Additionally, the outside seating has been done to resemble a bus stop. This is a place for friends as well as family to hang out.”The katta has interesting places including the famous Marine Drive around and it is the best way to unwind.
