Man held for raping minor granddaughter

Police said the girl used to stay with her grandparents for her schooling. RAIPUR: Police on Sunday arrested a 55-year-old man for raping his 12-year-old granddaughter in Manpur town of Rajnandgaon district.TOI is withholding the name of the accused to protect the identity of the girl. Police said the man had taken the girl to an isolated spot two-three time before and raped her - luring her with gifts and clothes.However, this time she vehemently opposed. The incident came to light when the accused was forcing the girl to come with him outside, but she refused. She told her parents about the incident and her brother lodged an FIR against the grandfather at a local police station.

Hearing the commotion, her relatives and neighbours arrived at the spot. She told her parents about the incident and her brother lodged an FIR against the grandfather at a local police station. A case was registered under relevant sections of IPC and POCSO. The accused was nabbed and sent to jail.
