14 opposition MLAs suspended after ruckus in House

As opposition members continued to raise slogans against the government, speaker adjourned the House for ten minutes.After the House reassembled, opposition members continued to raise the issue, but Satya Narayan Sharma, who was in the chair, asked the members to continue with the proceedings. Janata Congress legislators and later BJP members trooped into the well of the House to disrupt the proceedings, forcing the chair to order suspension of 11 BJP legislators and three MLAs of Janata Congress and asking them to leave the House. Later, he adjourned the House for lunch recess.When the House assembled again to take up the general debate on the budget, opposition members raised the issue again, pressing for a debate on adjournment motion and raising slogans. Later, the House was adjourned for the day.Meanwhile, opposition BJP legislators staged a dharna in front of Gandhi statue on Vidhan Sabha premises and raised slogans against Congress government, accusing it of playing "politics of badla". Leader of opposition Dharamlal Kaushik intervened and pressed for a debate saying that the members would be in a position to come up with more facts about victimisation of BJP workers.

RAIPUR: As many as 14 opposition legislators, including 13 BJP MLAs, were suspended from the state assembly on Monday after they trooped into the well of the House, accusing the Congress government of acting out of political vendetta and demanding a debate on their notice for adjournment motion on the issue.Raising the issue during the zero hour, Ajay Chandrakar (BJP) said the party members had submitted a notice for an adjournment motion on the issue of alleged victimisation of BJP members under the Congress government across the state. Other BJP members joined Chandrakar to press for a debate on the issue, alleging that the police have been misused to target BJP leaders and other party workers during the last more than a month.Speaker Charandas Mahant said he had disallowed the notice for adjournment motion, but opposition members were on their feet pressing for a debate on the issue. Leader of opposition Dharamlal Kaushik intervened and pressed for a debate saying that the members would be in a position to come up with more facts about victimisation of BJP workers.
