RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel has asserted that the anti-Maoist operations would continue unabated and efforts would be stepped up for setting up more camps of security forces in the areas dominated by the Maoists. "Our people have laid down their lives in the fight against the Maoists. Our jawans have fought valiantly”, he told reporters at the Swami Vivekananda Airport immediately after his return to Raipur.

Pointing out that the morale of forces were high and they are fighting a battle in areas once dominated by the Maoist rebels, the chief minister said the security forces have also inflicted heavy causalities on the Maoists` side during Saturday’s encounter that followed after the ambush on the security forces. “I have information that the Maoists have taken away bodies of their dead comrades and their cadres injured in the encounter in four tractors”, he claimed.

Baghel said the area of influence of Maoists has shrunk in Chhattisgarh and now they were just confined to certain pockets in the remote forest areas. Rattled over their diminishing presence and influence, Maoists are resorting to such attacks to register their presence, he said adding that the forces would continue their operation relentlessly, besides establishing camps of security forces deep inside areas of influence of the Maoists.
