Health department has started door-to-door surveillance in the capital city and around 7000 people are being treated in home isolation in Raipur district.
RAIPUR: The state’s single day breached 10,000-mark on Wednesday, adding 10,310 new Covid cases. With this, the active count jumped to 58,883. And to tackle this rush, the already-burdened hospitals are mulling to increase beds. Health department has started door-to-door surveillance in the capital city and around 7000 people are being treated in home isolation in Raipur district.
As per medical bulletin, state’s cumulative tally has increased to 3,96,579 and with 53 new deaths, toll has crossed 4469 in Chhattisgarh. With infection rate of 20.7% in Chhattisgarh, the recovery rate has dipped to 92% from 97%. However, as many over 3.33 lakh patients have recovered since outbreak of the infection.
Meanwhile, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Raipur will ramp up its ICU capacity and beds with Oxygen by Sunday. The decision has been taken to cater to rising number of critical patients in the hospital. Director Dr Nitin M Nagarkar chaired a meeting of doctors and officers at AIIMS and reviewed the situation. It has been decided that ICU beds will be increased from 40 to 60 with immediate effect. Apart from this, AIIMS will gradually increase the beds in the Covid ward with Oxygen facility. Presently, 363 beds are dedicated for Covid care, including 40 ICU beds.
Dean Prof. SP Dhaneria said that MBBS and B.Sc. (Nursing) 2017 batch will complete their examination in time and internship program. Other semester students will attend online classes. Deputy director (Admin) Anshuman Gupta said that AIIMS is trying to provide video calling facilities to the patients admitted in the Covid ward.
