Durg sees 16 pc decline in corona cases in lockdown Rapid Antigen Test conducted on a suspected patient. Staff Reporter : DURG According to the analysis of Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) data the corona infection in Durg district has decreased by 16 per cent in the last one week. On April 10 antigen tests of about 2596 people were done out of which 1259 were detected positive. These were 48 per cent of the total figures. On Thursday 2723 people were tested through antigen of which 879 were found positive. This is 32 per cent of the total figures. The statistics for the last four days and the rate of infection has been 36 33 30 and 32 per cent respectively. The gradual decline in antigen tests thus proves that the lockdown appears to be effective in the district and has prevented corona infection. Since the antigen test results are available on the spot their results clearly state the infection status every day. Here it is noteworthy that lockdown in Durg district was imposed on April 6 by Collector Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure. The data analysis shows that the decision of lockdown has given positive result. The lockdown was imposed on April 6 on this day 2659 tests were done and 529 were found positive. It was 20 per cent of the total patients. The next day the figure was 34 per cent then it was 40 and 41 per cent for two days and then 48 per cent for the next two days. This shows how fast the infection was progressing. This question may arise in the mind that why the antigen test did not show better results within first two-three days of the lockdown. The reason for this is that coronavirus is a contagious disease and symptoms develop after two-three days so the infection does not stop immediately after the lockdown as it takes some time. Along with this one more reason is that this wave has shown effect of infection on the whole family. If one person in the family is not cared for then there is a possibility of infection of the whole family. This happened in most cases. It is clear from the figures that the timing of the lockdown was correct and its results have been effective.
