Chhattisgarh logs 13628 fresh cases, death toll crosses 10,000-mark

RAIPUR: Covid fatalities crossed 10,158-mark in Chhattisgarh on Friday. 13,628 fresh cases were reported on the same day and the cumulative tally has increased to 830117 with 131245 active cases in state. State had registered first Covid death last year on May 20. The current death rate in the state stands at 1.2 per cent — equivalent to the national average, said health official.

RAIPUR: Covid fatalities crossed 10,158-mark in Chhattisgarh on Friday. 13,628 fresh cases were reported on the same day and the cumulative tally has increased to 830117 with 131245 active cases in state. State had registered first Covid death last year on May 20. The current death rate in the state stands at 1.2 per cent — equivalent to the national average, said health official.

“If we take an average of one year from the first death from Corona, then nearly 29 deaths are reported every day. In one year, as many as 2,732 people have died of Corona in Raipur.” On Friday, 208 people died out of which 98 were Covid patients and 110 died due to various co-morbidities. However, as many as 13,039 people recovered on same day increasing the tally of recovered patients to 6,88,918 in Chhattisgarh.

Out of 13,628 cases reported on Friday, 818 were from Raipur with 40 deaths, however, as predicted by health officials, now the rising figures are being reported from Raigarh, where 1,238 cases with 14 deaths were recorded on thsame day. Meanwhile, Janjgir-Champa reported 1,144 cases with 20 deaths, 638 cases were reported from Mungeli with two deaths, 661 cases from Surajpur with three deaths.

As compared to previous year, a surge in Covid cases is reported from tribal dominated Bastar division including Bastar, Bijaspur, Narayanpur, Kanker, Sukma, Dantewada and Kondagaon, where on an average 300 patients were tested positive for the virus on Friday. While in Bastar division highest number of active cases of 4,900 are reported from Kanker, followed by 1,952 in Kondagaon, and 1,473 in Bastar.

Chief minister directed the officials concerned to ensure regular monitoring of home-isolated patients in rural areas with utmost care. In case, the health condition of such patients decline, they should be immediately hospitalised. Baghel also directed the officials to regularly inspect the private hospitals and ensure that the patients are not being charged more than the fixed rate for treatment. “Patients should also be given the benefit of Dr Khubchand Baghel Health Scheme and Ayushman Scheme,” said Baghel. Chief minister was addressing the virtual meeting from his residence office to review the Covid situation in 18 blocks of nine districts in Raipur, Durg and Sarguja Division.
