Government notifies new varieties of vegetables developed by IGKVChhattisgarh Safed Baigan-1 developed by the university. Staff Reporter ;RAIPURIn another success to Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (IGKV) Raipur the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (Government of India) has notified six varieties of vegetables developed by the university for undertaking commercial farming and production of quality seed. Similarly Indira Wingbean-2 notified for Chhattisgarh Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand has the yield capacity of 1500-1600 kilograms per hectare. Both these varieties have been developed by Ambikapur Agricultural College. The officials further added that Chhattisgarh Sem-1 and Chhattisgarh Safed Baigan-1 are also high yield and resistant to several diseases.

Staff Reporter ; RAIPUR In another success to Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya (IGKV) Raipur the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (Government of India) has notified six varieties of vegetables developed by the university for undertaking commercial farming and production of quality seed. Central seed sub-committee on release of varieties under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare notified six horticultural crops including Indira Kankoda-2 Indira Wingbean-2 Chhattisgarh Shaken Banda-1 CG Dang Kanda-1 Chhattisgarh Sem-1 and Chhattisgarh Safed Baigan-1 informed the university officials. According to information received Indira Kankoda-2 with yielding capacity of 3500-4000 kilogram per hectare has been notified for Chhattisgarh Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. Similarly Indira Wingbean-2 notified for Chhattisgarh Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand has the yield capacity of 1500-1600 kilograms per hectare. Both these varieties have been developed by Ambikapur Agricultural College. Shaken Banda-1 and CG Dang Kanda-1 are developed by Shaheed Gundadhur College of Agriculture and Research Station (Jagdalpur). Shaken Banda-1 has the yield capacity of 43.8 ton per hectare while average yield of CG Dang Kanda-1 is 12-13 ton per hectare said the officials. The officials further added that Chhattisgarh Sem-1 and Chhattisgarh Safed Baigan-1 are also high yield and resistant to several diseases.
