Narayanpur district shines at Jal Jeevan Survekshan 2023 Staff Reporter RAIPUR Department of Drinking and Sanitation Ministry of Jal Shakti Government of India felicitated Narayanpur district for its exceptional performance in the the Jal Jeevan Survekshan 2023. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has congratulated the residents of Narayanpur district and the officers and employees of Jal Jeevan Mission for this achievement. It may be mentioned that providing pure drinking water to every villager in naxal affected Narayanpur district which has very difficult settlements was a challenging task. For carrying it forward successfully the Central government honoured Narayanpur district under aspirational district. The Jal Jeevan Survekshan 1 was conducted by the Central Government from October 1 2022 to June 30 2023. In this the work of Narayanpur district under the aspirational districts was found excellent. For this Jal Jeevan Mission had set a target of providing pure drinking water to 30322 families out of which tap connections have been provided to 18072 families. There are 14 villages where 100% families have been given water tap connections. It is noteworthy that on the instructions of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel the work of providing pure drinking water under Jal Jeevan Mission is being done on mission mode in the entire State. Mission Director of Jal Jeevan Mission Alok Katiyar said that under the continuous guidance of Chief Minister Baghel desired progress has been achieved with standard quality in the works of Jal Jeevan Mission. In the present situation the state is achieving an average of 7000 domestic connections per day and 60 percent families have been given domestic connections. Till now water certification for every household has been done in a total of 422 villages of the state. It is noteworthy that there are two development blocks- Orchha and Narayanpur in Narayanpur district. Most of the area of Orchha development block comes under Abujhmad which is spread over an area of about 4000 square kilometers and is surrounded by mountains and dense forests. Survey of these areas has not been done yet. There are more than 275 villages in this unsurveyed area keeping in view the interests of the farmers the Chief Minister had given instructions for the work of mass survey. Survey work is going on in Masahati villages. Solar pump based drinking water schemes under Jal Jeevan Mission are proving to be a boon for the villagers living in far-flung settlements of Narayanpur district. It may be mentioned that under Jal Jeevan Mission in the state running water has been provided in a total of 43974 schools (86.78 percent) 41719 Anganwadi centers (83.39 percent) and 5246 health centers (97.86 percent). Running water facility has been provided in 100% i.e. 2470 ashram schools of the state. The target of providing more than 70 percent household connections has been achieved in 7 districts of the state namely Dhamtari Raipur Durg Rajnandgaon Mungeli Janjgir-Champa and Sakti district. In Dantewada district domestic tap connections have been provided to 26891 (53.01 percent) rural families. Tap connections have been provided to 100% families in 19 villages of Dantewada district and water certification has been done for every household in 5 villages. Certification has been done by celebrating Jal Utsav in every house in 6 villages in Narayanpur district. Under the efforts to provide water to every house in Narayanpur district work is on completion in villages like Udidgaon Gulumkodo Kokodi Kundla Khadkagaon Guria and Palli etc. in the inner villages of Orchha development block. 338 solar based schemes have been completed in the district continuous water supply is being ensured through solar based drinking water schemes in remote forest areas thus the internal and electricity-less villages of Narayanpur district are also getting the benefit of drinking water facility
