Vice-Chancellor Professor Alok Kumar Chakrawal presided over the proceedings with Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Renuka Singh also attending the ceremony. Addressing the gathered audience President Droupadi Murmu congratulated the graduates and lauded the professors and university team for their significant contributions to student success. President Murmu also praised GGCU for its dedication to social service particularly involving students in these initiatives. President Murmu acknowledged the challenges India had faced but emphasised the country's determination to achieve its goals.

President Murmu awards degrees to 2946 graduates of GGCU Our Correspondent BILASPUR President Droupadi Murmu graced the 10th convocation of Guru Ghasidas Central University (GGCU) where she awarded degrees to 2946 students who successfully passed various examinations during the 2021-2022 session. The event held at the Silver Jubilee Auditorium was attended by Chhattisgarh Governor Bishwabhusan Harichandan and Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. Vice-Chancellor Professor Alok Kumar Chakrawal presided over the proceedings with Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Renuka Singh also attending the ceremony. Addressing the gathered audience President Droupadi Murmu congratulated the graduates and lauded the professors and university team for their significant contributions to student success. She particularly commended the high number of female students receiving gold medals attributing their achievements to talent dedication and the support of their families and the university. She emphasized the importance of womens empowerment through education recognising the significant role women play in Indias population. President Murmu also praised GGCU for its dedication to social service particularly involving students in these initiatives. With a substantial tribal population in the vicinity of the university she stressed the importance of sensitivity towards tribal communities and increased female participation. She highlighted the significance of scientific and technological progress in todays world and noted Indias achievements in space exploration and nuclear technology. President Murmu acknowledged the challenges India had faced but emphasised the countrys determination to achieve its goals. She encouraged the university to organise events celebrating Indias achievements in space fostering scientific temper in society. She reminded the youth of their responsibilities outlined in the Constitution emphasising that adherence to these duties would contribute to overall development. Governor Bishwabhusan Harichandan expressed his privilege in attending the convocation extending his best wishes to the graduates. He highlighted the significance of convocation as a ceremony that not only recognises students hard work but also instills values of culture and discipline. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel blessed the students and commended GGCU as a beacon of knowledge. He underscored the importance of preserving Indias rich resources biodiversity and human values for future generations. Vice-Chancellor Professor Alok Kumar Chakrawal presented the universitys annual report and plans for the future during the event. Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Renuka Singh also addressed the gathering. The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries including Higher Education Minister Umesh Patel Members of Parliament Arun Sao and Vijay Baghel MLAs Shailesh Pandey Rashmi Singh Dharamlal Kaushik and Rajnish Singh Chairman of State Industrial Development Corporation Nand Kumar Sai Chairman of District Panchayat Arun Singh Chauhan Mayor Ramsaran Yadav Commissioner K D Kunjam Inspector General of Police Dr Anand Chhabra District Collector Sanjeev Kumar Jha Police Superintendent Santosh Kumar Singh professors lecturers students parents and other distinguished guests.
