Casting BJP vote will be a threat to constitution, democracy: Bhupesh

  • | Wednesday | 3rd April, 2024

Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Tuesday warned that if the BJP was voted to power in general elections, it will change the Constitution and end caste-based reservation. Both the Constitution as well as democracy in India were in danger and efforts are on by the BJP to unleash a dictatorial government, he said. Baghel said this at an impressive nomination rally in Rajnandgaon. This election was not an aam (routine) election but a khas (special) one, he said. The Congress safeguards the welfare of the poor, farmers and labourers and will continue to do so "but you have to continue blessing it by sending our candidates to the Lok Sabha", he said. He urged voters of Rajnandgaon, where he is vying for an entry to the Lok Sabha, to be cautious while voting. Former Minister Ravindra Choubey and Leader of Opposition Charandas Mahant also addressed the gathering. Choubey in his speech said that sending Baghel to the Lok Sabha will ensure that Chhattisgarhs voice is heard in parliament. Whatever farmers were getting today, be it paddy price of Rs 3,100 per quintal and hike in per acre purchase to 21 tonnes, was only due to his efforts, he said.
