Firefighting system in 2 hotels found inadequate: Report

RAIPUR: Two major hotels in the city may have to face the heat of the district administration as their firefighting measures and emergency backup systems have been dubbed substandard and inadequate. A special investigative team of district administration that was tasked with inspecting fire safety measures in hotels submitted its report on ill-equipped fire-fighting systems at including VW Canyon and Grand Imperia.As per Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC), the fire-fighting systems, wiring structure, fire prevention measures and fire extinguisher at these two hotels were not updated and neither matching safety standards.The administration of these two hotels have been given a time limit of three days to totally upgrade their fire safety systems, following which, an upgraded report would be submitted to the district Collector OP Chowdhary.The special investigative team was formed under directives of the district Collector to check the status of fire-safety management systems in the hotels across the capital city after the major fire-break outs which took place in past two weeks, including the huge blaze that engulfed Tulsi Lodge last week, killing 5 people.The report on lack of fire safety measures will be submitted to Collector by the special investigative team of Raipur Municipal Corporation, district administration and town planning officials.
