Village goes up in flames, 22 families left homeless

All the homes were completely gutted and it took more than 5 hours to douse the flames. The strong noon winds were instrumental in making the fire spread to neighboring village of Kritibaans, leaving about a dozen homes burnt there.It took some time for fire fighters to reach the spot and by the time they did, more than half the homes were completely parched. No causalities have been reported. RAIPUR: A major fire that engulfed an entire village at Kabirdham district on Thursday left 22 families homeless as their homes went up in flames.According to information, one of the houses at Gandai Pandaria region in Kabirdham caught fire at around 1 pm on Thursday which quickly spread to 28 other homes in the village.The village structure was such that each home is almost conjoined to its neighboring house, thus allowing the fire to spread easily. The situation has left many village dwellers with absolutely no belongings except the clothes that they were wearing.nformation revealed that one of the homes at Kritbaans villages had two cylinders inside which caught fire and exploded, adding to the fire.In another incident at Jajhpuri village in Mungeli district, 17 houses were gutted while seven goats and other cattle were also charred to death on Thursday, after a pile of bamboo sticks caught fire following a short circuit.
